the best valentines day books for toddlers

I am a SUCKER for a thematic book both for my students at school and my own kids at home. Here is a list of my favorite valentines day books that are on my bookshelf this year for my toddler and that I am using at school with love and kindness themes

I pick books for my toddler (and baby) in much the same way I pick books for my students at school, following a few rules or books that include the following for maximum interest and engagement (my goal is a love of books and reading after all!)

  • Books with interactive pieces like lift the flat, music, or touch and feel
  • Books that include a special interest such as construction vehicles, animals, space, etc.
  • Books that are part of a series. My toddler loves books about the same characters or set in the same places and so do my students!
  • Board books – I mostlyyyy buy board books at this stage. I want my toddler and my students to be able to engage with them freely and not worry about ripping.

Disclaimer: I do receive commission from both Amazon and Paperpie if you shop through my links. It does not cost you any extra but it does help my support my family and my students (and TBH to buy more books, shhh)

If you’re interested in why I think Paperpie books are some of the best, check out this post
