Our Mini Kitchen “Glow Up”

As you may (or may not) know, we build our house almost 2 years ago. I feel so so lucky and blessed that we were able to build the house of our dreams, but brand new, builder grade, houses lack a lot of charm. We are slowly adding new things to make it feel like home, like lighting fixtures, mudroom built ins, laundry room cabinets, etc. One thing we have not done is paint – “knock down” texture is a BEAST – but that is a story for another time.

The one BIG (to us) project we really wanted to get done was a little kitchen glow up. We (my dad) added pendant lights over our island when we moved in, but our kitchen was still very plain and did not look homey. We have white cabinets, granite countertops (grey, black, and white flecked), and not much else. It needed a little something. I had dreamed of adding cabinet hardware and subway tile backsplash, and we finally did it! I also took this as an excuse to buy some new countertop “accessories”. Check out this before and after! It might not look like much, but we are SO proud of it!

I am ZERO expert on the “how to” of tiling and adding cabinetry. I am lucky to have a dad who is an engineer and knows how to do all this stuff. But….I am proud to say that after being taught with one cabinet pull, Ben and I did ALL of them AND we laid and grouted 90% of the tile, my dad just did the hard “jig” cuts around light socket covers and our darned angled window sill above the sink.

I will, however, link below all of the things we used from cabinet hardware to grout colors so that if you have a similar-ish kitchen and want this kind of look you know where to get it!

Cabinet Hardware – Liberty Classic Edge in Black

Subway Tile – Daltile 3×6 in Bright White

Grout – SimpleGrout #165 Delorean Gray

Counter Tray – Hearth & Hand from Target

Cookbook Holder – Hearth & Hand from Target

Mini Basket – Hearth & Hand from Target

Utensil Holder – Hearth & Hand from Target

Salt & Pepper Shakers – Hearth & Hand From Target

Mini Plant– Hearth & Hand from Target

Cookbook – Love & Lemons Cookbook (a gift from a friend)

We are super happy with how it turned out! Now if someone can help me keep the cabinets organized and the countertop that clean?
