A Classic, Daisy Themed Nursery For Baby Girl

DISCLAIMER: I know this isn’t speech related, but I decided I am going to share a little more “life” stuff here on the itty bitty blog during this postpartum period in an attempt to feel a little more connected and a little less alone. So if you aren’t interested in baby related content feel free to skip this one, if you’re curious keep reading!

I have always LOVED a daisy motif, I have just always though daisies and scallops are ADORABLE and when we found out we were having a baby girl I knew I wanted a daisy themed nursery. Problem was, the only daisy themed stuff I saw was very boho/beige/tan, which is cute and verrrrry trendy it just is not really my style. I set out to create a classic and girly daisy nursery that was more pink than tan and more traditional than boho and I think I did it! Read below everything I got for baby girl’s nursery and where I got it

Furniture

The majority of the furniture in her nursery is from the Penny line at Pottery Barn Kids. Pottery Barn is EXPENSIVE, I get that, but I have never been disappointed with the quality of a PB or PBK purchase and we figure that gooood quality bedroom furniture will hopefully last most if not all of her childhood. We have PB furniture in our Master bedroom and my son has PBK furniture in his room and all of it is amazing quality and has held up wonderfully. Also, I could NOT say no to the adorable scalloped details on this line. It’s feminine enough to be cute but not so overly girly that she will hate it when she is 12 (I hope)

Penny Convertible Crib – this crib also converts to a toddler bed with an additional set that is sold separately, we did buy it just to have on hand

Penny Extra Wide Dresser with Topper – this dresser is BIG, but I love how much storage space it offers. I also love the gold hardware. We also got the topper attachment. We did not have one with my son, we just set his changing pad on top, and although it was “fine” it has slipped off a lot as he has gotten older and we pick him up off it. The topper seems very secure and a nice little feature I am sure we will appreciate.

I also like that there is a matching bed that we can grab to match the set when she needs it.

Penny Bookcase – We learned with my son that a kiddo quickly needs a bookshelf or something to store toys and books in their room, so we were smart this time and got the matching one

Penny bedside table – we also did not originally have a side table next to the rocker in my son’s room, big mistake. I highly recommend a table of some sort with a little bit of storage for burp cloths and other stuff, a place to keep a lamp, etc. This one will be repurposed as a bedside table when she gets older

Rocking Chair – so this might be an unpopular opinion, but our SUPER COMFY rocker recliner is in our living room, the one in the bedroom (at least for my son) wasn’t one that we spent a ton of time in (like 2 hour contact naps). It is primarily used for feeding before bed, reading stories, etc. so we went a little more affordable on this one from Wayfair. My son has the same exact one in the gray color and it is STURDY and relatively easy to wipe. You never know what you are going to get from Wayfair and this one is an A+.

Floating Shelves – I don’t know if these fall under furniture or if they fall under decor, but we got these floating shelves to match to display books and other cute stuff.

decor

I had so much fun finding all of these little decor items to match the theme. A lot of them are from Target but there are a few from Etsy and other small shops

Crib sheets & changing pad cover – these are one of the first inspirations that I found and they are absolutely PERFECT. They are muslin so they get softer every time you wash them and I just love them. I got 2 sheets and 2 changing pad covers, I had more than that with my son and never really used more than 2. This is the changing pad we have, I like it because it has the little no slip grips on the bottom.

Curtains – Black out curtains are a MUST, and I love the sweet little scalloped detail on these. I also think its a good girly pink, not too dusty but not too bubble gum either. This is the curtain rod we got, I love a little gold feminine detail

Lamp – As of posting this the lamp is currently sold out at Target, but it comes in and out of stock frequently so if you want it (which you should because it is PERFECT) keep checking to to see if it comes back in stock

Mirror – I thought this mirror was a really sweet girly addition. It isn’t super obnoxious shiny gold in person and it looks much more expensive than it is

Baskets – Target has a whole line of these baskets with little embroidered “flowers” on them. The come in small, medium, and large as well as a diaper caddy. TBH, the diaper caddy is cute but not super functional. I like to keep little stuff in my diaper caddy and the dividers don’t actually go down to the bottom so things could slip between the compartments. I ended up getting this one instead and I like it a lot better.

Name puzzle – no reason other than this is adorable and matched perfectly, I couldn’t say no.

Stuffed animals – these animals are just so so sweet

Framed Prints – these came a a freebie when I bought the cuddle and kind stuffed animals, but you can purchase them separately if you want to. I had a really hard time finding 10×10 frames so these are the ones I got.

Blanket – they actually have a few nice daisy blankets at Target. The one in the graphic came from the kids section but they also have this one, this one, and this one that come from the baby section and fit the theme as well

Gallery Wall – I got these sweet graphics from Etsy, and had them printed at Smallwood Home. I absolutely LOVE how they turned out.

Name Sign – also from an Etsy shop, great quality!

Personalized name blanket – this was from a really sweet shop on Etsy and was really affordable

Quilt – my mom actually made this quilt for her, but she got the fabric from Joann, linked here.

Other Stuff

The other little (not cute) things in the nursery are linked here

Diaper Pail – we had a different (common) pail for my son and I like this one way better

Sound Machine – everyone has one, we use ours for my son daily, get one you wont regret it

Wipe dispenser – my husband has a few fatal flaws and closing a wipe container/using all of the wipes in a container is one of them. I am hoping this helps. It doesn’t warm or anything, just dispenses

Gold Baskets – I actually already had these from a LONG time ago on Amazon, but I thought they matched perfectly and we weren’t using them for anything in particular.

Hamper – Not sure if I love it, but I could not bring myself to spend too much money on a hamper.

Crucifix – we are Catholic and it is important for me to have a crucifix in my kid’s rooms. I thought this one was sweet.

Books

I just couldn’t resist some sweet, girly display books. My husband is an English teacher and I am an SLP so literacy is important to us and I wanted to feature some books in her room. Here are the titles you see displayed
