So you want to prep all those cutie little interactive books that you see in my store and all over TPT/instagram/pinterest but it looks like they are going to take. so. darn. long BUT I’ve got you covered with 5 prep tips to make it way easier, I swear. I can prep a whole preschool language unit in 30 minutes and you can too!
Run 2 laminating sheets through at the same time (or use two laminators or tape them end to end)
I swear running two through at a time words, with two caveats. 1. Stagger them slightly so the ends can seal on their own. 2. Put it on the highest heat setting. Whatever you do, get that laminating done in half the time!
Laminate then cut. There’s literally no need to cut/laminate/cut (Mrs. D’s Corner)
Stephanie at Mrs. D’s corner did a mythbusters style experiment all about this. You’re literally doubling your cutting time for no extra reward if you cut, laminate, cut. Just don’t do it.
SLIDE those scissors.
I’m all about efficient, not perfect. So slide your scissors, or get a slide cutter, and get that cutting done QUICK! Bonus tip: Cut WHILE you laminate.
Use a THREE HOLE PUNCH
Especially when prepping an interactive book (mine or someone else’s). You’ll cut your time in half AND the holes will always line up.
Put the velcro dots on the back, THEN cut.
When you’re cutting small pieces (like the interactive pieces in my language units) put the velcro on the back BEFORE you cut. And while I’m on the topic… buy velcro dots and stop messing with strip. You’re worth it, girlfriend.
